Healing through Art
Dubravka Sabljak is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans vibrant, expressive painting and whimsical, character-driven sculpture. Based in Bellingen, her entire practice is rooted in a deeply personal journey of transformation and emotional healing. For Dubravka, art is a vital, intuitive space where powerful stories are revealed through material.

Her ceramic practice is a dialogue with the clay. Creation begins not with plans, but with instinct—allowing the material to guide her until a curious, otherworldly figure emerges. Known for these unique figures, she embraces the imperfections and unpredictability of the firing process, letting texture and asymmetry become part of each sculpture's evolving identity.

Complementing her sculptural work, Dubravka’s paintings draw inspiration from the landscapes of Gumbaynggirr Country. Having completed a Diploma of Ceramics in 2023, her work - from her first exhibition, Healing Through Art, onward—invites viewers into a raw and honest exploration of the self, constantly grounded in the healing potential of creative expression.
